Frequently Asked Questions

Here's some answers to questions often asked.

If you have a query that isn't covered, don't worry just send me an email I'll be happy to answer it ...

How far will you travel to marry us?

I am based in the Peak District and cover most of Derbyshire, Staffordshire and I dip my toe into Yorkshire. I'm honestly happy to travel to most places and I'll even conduct ceremonies abroad! My fee will just go up a wee bit to cover travel costs depending on the location.

Can you help us work out what to include?

Absolutely. That is my job. I'm here to take away the fear that comes with starting from scratch. Whether you want to keep it traditional, add lovely symbolic acts or wild new twists, I know how to structure and balance your ceremony to make it one to remember.

Are humanist ceremonies legal?

Not yet. Don't get me started. They are THE most popular form of wedding ceremony in Scotland where they have been legal since 2005. BUT in England we are still working on getting legal status!

In the meantime, never fear, we just get all the legal stuff out of the way before your wedding day. You can complete the legal side of things with a Registrar for around £60 before your wedding and you don't have to exchange rings or make it a big occasion, you can save that for your humanist ceremony.

A bill has recently been introduced into Parliament to give Humanist weddings the same legal recognition in England and Wales as they already have in Scotland. More info on the legalisation of Humanist ceremonies can be found here.

Are you insured and how can we trust you to turn up on the day?!

As a celebrant accredited by Humanists UK, I am monitored and insured by the organisation for both public liability and professional indemnity. As part of your booking I send over a contract for you to read and sign. This might sound very official and scary, it isn't. It is just good practice to protect both yourself and me and make sure I am providing a consistent, professional service.

We want you! How do we

book you and what is your fee?

That's great! Best thing to do is get in touch so we can discuss your plans and check my availability.

Once we have you booked in then we can start planning your big day.

My fee varies depending on the type of ceremony you are after and the location of your venue.

I take bookings up to three years in advance so even if your wedding feels far away, it is a good idea to get in touch now to make sure I'll be free on the day!
